On your phone

The app reads only the Apple Health data you allow, kind by kind, in Apple’s Health sheet: activity, workouts, sleep, heart, breathing, body measurements, food and water, and the like. It writes nothing back. What it works out and what it writes are kept on your phone. We have no server, no accounts, no analytics and no advertising.

Subscription

With a subscription, the app uses AI to find insights in your Health data and write them. Our AI provider is Anthropic, and its model Claude does the writing. On the free plan, none of your data leaves the phone.

While your subscription is active, the app sends Anthropic the readings you allowed: your daily figures, nights and workouts, the last few days in more detail, and once a month your whole record. It also sends an anonymous key for this install, so that Anthropic can check that requests come from a genuine copy of Subtone and apply usage limits. Nothing sent includes your name, Apple ID, email, location, anything that identifies the phone, or anything about your subscription.

Anthropic Ireland Limited processes this for us under a data-processing agreement, only to write your insights. It keeps it only as long as that agreement allows and does not train its models on it. Any transfer to its US parent is covered by Standard Contractual Clauses.

Apple sells the subscription and takes the payment. The app never sees your payment details.

Legal basis

Health data is special-category data. We rely on your explicit consent (GDPR Article 9(2)(a)), given when you tap Subscribe, or Agree and continue. Stop and erase everything in Settings withdraws it and erases what the app holds; the app then goes on reading on the phone, without the insights.

How long it is kept

On your phone, until you erase everything or delete the app.

Your rights

You can access, correct, erase, restrict, move or object to the use of your data, and complain to a supervisory authority: Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY) in Sweden, Datatilsynet in Denmark, or the one where you live. Everything is on your phone, so you can see it and erase it there.

Children

The app is not for children under 16.
